2 injured in accident involving alcohol

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - The Vigo County Sheriff's Office responded to Sandford Avenue and Long Road in northern Vigo County around 6 p.m. Friday evening, August 17, on reports of a personal injury accident.

A PT Cruiser and GMC Truck crashed in the accident.

The driver of the truck, James R. Hale of West Terre Haute, was transported to Union Hospital and later flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with complaints of neck and back pain.

Hale's teenage son was ejected from the truck in the accident and transported to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. His condition is not know.

The driver of the PT Cruiser was identified as Christopher W. Headlee of West Terre Haute. Headlee had a blood alcohol level of .11%. Headlee is expected to be charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and cited for Driving Left of Center, as well as having an Open Container.

Headlee is being held in the Vigo County jail.
