DUGGER, Ind. (WTHI) - The investigation continues into the early morning shooting of Patrick D. Ruff and LeighAnn Lovelace in downtown Dugger (Sullivan Co.).

According to Police officials, Ruff remains in critical condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Lovelace is expected to be released later today from Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening head wounds sustained from a shotgun round.

The alleged shooter is still undergoing treatment at Methodist Hospital for head trauma not obtained from a gunshot.  His wounds appear to be non-life threatening.

His name will not be released at this time per Indiana State Police regulations on releasing the names of suspects.

Investigators originally thought the alleged shooter had received a gunshot wound during an altercation with James B. Gardner.

However, after further investigation and medical testing, he apparently received his wounds during the post shooting battery (not a separate shooting) allegedly committed by Gardner.

The investigation is ongoing and has the potential for additional charges. More information will be released when it becomes available and deemed appropriate for release.
