INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A 23-year Indianapolis police veteran has been arrested in connection with the robberies of motorists by a uniformed officer driving a marked patrol car.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Metropolitan Police officer David Butler has been charged Friday with two counts each of robbery and official misconduct following a three-month internal investigation. Police say Butler was on-duty when the robberies took place.
Police say motorists were stopped for minor traffic violations on the city's northwest side then threatened with arrest as their money was taken.
The department is asking anyone with information about similar incidents to contact police.
