MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in the northwest Indiana town of Merrillville say an explosion and fire in a home rigged with more than a dozen propane and gasoline canisters has killed one man.
Merrillville police spokesman Cmdr. Lance Huish says the blast and fire all but leveled the house and scorched the side of a neighboring home.
Huish says the body of an unidentified man was removed from the debris. The Lake County Coroner's Office had not yet identified the body.
Police removed at least 11 five-gallon gasoline cans and several propane tanks from the home.
