KENTLAND, Ind. (AP) - A second man has been sentenced to decades in prison for abducting a woman in northwestern Indiana and fatally cutting her throat with a shovel.
A Newton County judge ordered a 55-year prison term for 24-year-old Matthew Henderson during a sentencing hearing Monday.
The Journal & Courier reports Henderson pleaded guilty to murder charges for the March 2009 death of 54-year-old Silvia Ricchio of Wheatfield.
Authorities say Henderson and 28-year-old Aaron Flynn abducted Ricchio, who was Flynn's former landlord. Both men said the other jumped on the shovel to killed Ricchio. Her body was found six days later in a shallow grave on abandoned farm property near Sumava Resorts.
Flynn has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
