LADOGA, Ind. (WLFI) - Two people are in jail after a domestic dispute led to a shooting.
Montgomery County Sheriff Luther Blanton said Kelly J. VanCleave, 45, called 911 at 1:11 a.m. Thursday to report an attempted burglary at his Ladoga home. Blanton said VanCleave had shot the intruder in the leg outside his residence.
Officers learned VanCleave knew the intruder, Donnie Steele, 51, of Ladoga. The incident was a domestic altercation involving a third acquaintance, Lisa D. Estep, 45, also of Ladoga.
Steele was transported to St. Clare Medical Center, and later taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds to the leg.
VanCleave and Estep were incarcerated at the Montgomery County Jail. VanCleave faces a preliminary charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon. Estep faces preliminary charges of Visiting a Common Nuisance and Disorderly Conduct.
Chief Deputy Gary Truax said Steele's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. He said Steele does not face any charges at this point in time.
