FORT WAYNE, IND. (WANE) - Allen County and Fort Wayne police arrested an Amber Alert suspect on I-69 North near the 108 mile marker. It happened around 5:15 Monday morning.
It’s a story NewsChannel 15 was first to report on First News Monday morning. Police in Detroit say Anthony Adams, 38, took off with his three children Sunday. That prompted an Amber Alert to be issued.
Police say Adams abducted Alannah, 2, Ajani, 5, and Amari, 7, about 8:00 Sunday night. Police say Adams was armed with an unknown revolver and the children were believed to be in "extreme danger."
Officers in Northeast Indiana then spotted Adams and his car near Markle. They then tried to pull him over near the Illinois Road exit.
Adams was arrested just south of Goshen Road, around 5:15 Monday morning.
The Allen County Sheriff's Department said the auto service, Onstar originally notified police of the suspect's location on I-69. Officials said this was not the first time that kind of technology proved useful.
"As technology progresses, it's getting harder and harder for criminals to get away with things. Obviously, Onstar is an awesome tool," said Steve Stone, spokesman for the Allen Co. Sheriff's Department.
Child Protective Services were called to the scene to care for the children. Authorities say the children are okay.
