TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Currently, the Indiana PTA has more than 27,000 members, but only about 5,200 of them are men.
But research shows it's important for men and women to be involved in a child's education.

Robin Duncan is the PTO president at DeVaney Elementary School in Terre Haute.

She said when it comes to educating children, it really does take community support. "I think a wide variety of people, of backgrounds, of ages, is beneficial to the school to help out," said Duncan.

Duncan said the most important thing you can do is to get involved because sometimes you may be the only positive role model in a child's life.

If you'd like to get involved in a parent-teacher group, Duncan suggests contacting your child's teacher or principal.
