INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The husband of an Indianapolis woman FoxNews.com reports is being investigated for possible terrorist ties says her interview in the article and a YouTube video is being taken out of context because the couple is Muslim.
FoxNews.com reported Indianapolis grandmother Kathie Smith, 46, married a suspected German jihadist and converted to the Muslim religion. They said the video below is connected to the Islamic Jihad Union, which is facing charges related to failed terror attacks against U.S. targets in Germany.
24-Hour News 8 Reporter Brad Edwards chatted with Kathie Smith’s husband on Facebook. The 28-year-old German, who identifies himself on the site as Salahudin Ibn Ja’far, called the FoxNews.com article “propaganda” that was “totally out of context.”
Ja’far went on to say he knew the people in the YouTube clip and that he’s been interrogated by German and FBI officials, but said they cleared his name.
“It’s just because we are Muslims, it’s all [taken] out of context,” he said via Facebook.
24-Hour News 8 tried unsuccessfully to reach Smith. Ja’far said he hasn’t seen his wife since September. A visa only allows her 90-day visits to Germany.
