The annual HI-99 Country Cares for Saint Jude Kids Radiothon hit the airwaves Thursday and Friday to raise money at the Honey Creek Mall in Terre Haute.
HI-99 Radio personalities camped out inside the mall encouraging listeners to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Eric Michaels, HI-99 Radio personality says, "every cent of every dollar goes towards the kids and thanks to the money that people donate, children with cancer have a fighting chance."
"The most common form of childhood cancer ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia ) was at about a four-percent cure rate when these things started about 20 some years ago. Now it's a ninety-four percent cure rate and that's why this thing is so important and why the money that goes to St. Jude is great to help cure childhood cancers,” said Michaels.
The Radiothon raised about $1.2 Million over the past 20 years but it costs just that to run the hospital for one day.
To donate to Children's Research Hospital head to Honey Creek Mall where several HI-99 radio personalities will be camped out till 7:00 p.m. Thursday and from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday.
If people would like to donate but can’t stop by the mall, they can make a donation over the phone at 1-888-779-5121.
