INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHI) - Some Hoosiers could see changes with their Medicaid in the near future; possibly covering birth control.
But the change wouldn’t be considered new, it was a law that was passed six years ago.
But zero people have actually benefited from the law to prevent unwanted pregnancies and at-risk births.
The original law allowed for Medicaid to cover birth control.
Recent reports show state departments failed to do the proper paperwork to allow for the changes.
The initial cost to the state is more than a million dollars but lawmakers say the expected savings over five years is more than 8 million dollars.
Several other states across the nation have similar plans.
