INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHI) - In a tight vote in the Indiana Senate, a bill passed Friday that makes it illegal to read and send text messages while driving.
The bill will allow cell phone calls.
Supporters hope the ban increases awareness about the dangers of texting and driving.
Those against the bill said it's a tough law to enforce.
Indiana State Police said more than 1,000 accidents last year involved cell phone usage.
