MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - -  Ball State University warned students Monday morning to stay in a safe place after a man with a gun was reported on campus.

The text alert sent to students said a man with a gun was seen north of Bracken Library. It was sent out around 8 a.m.

BSU police are investigating, but hadn't found a gunman as of 8:10 a.m.

A statement on the university's website said the person "had no discernible threatening behavior" and was described as a white man with a medium built, between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-5, wearing dark pants and a light jacket. He was seen walking eastbound on the north side of the library. It appeared he had a handgun in his left hand.

It's the university's first day back to classes after spring break.

No additional information was immediately available. Check back with WTHITV.com for updates. Ball State University issued an all clear just before 9:30 a.m. after earlier reports that there may have been a man carrying a gun on campus.

University police found no one with a weapon and made no arrests. The campus was secured and students were told they could return to normal activity.

University officials said the report was credible, and wasn't a hoax.
