Imprisoned teen faces charge he made metal weapon

SULLIVAN, Ind. (AP) — A teenager serving a 30-year prison sentence for helping his older brother in a deadly home invasion is facing new charges behind bars.

Seventeen-year-old Blade J. Reed was charged with a felony Feb. 15 for allegedly creating a weapon from part of a fence at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

The Sullivan Daily Times reports (http://www.sullivan-times.com/ ) another inmate told guards Reed had removed and sharpened a piece of metal from a prison fence and was threatening other offenders with it.

Court documents say a sharpened 7-inch metal rod was found in Reed's cell.

Reed was 14 when he pleaded guilty in 2009 to an adult felony charge for his role in a 2008 Brown County home invasion that killed an 84-year-old man and badly hurt his wife.
