HENDRICKS COUNTY (WTHI) - - UPDATE: One person has been confirmed dead as a result of the pile-up. Harry Sohal died shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. New information is expected to be released later today.
About 40 vehicles crashed Thursday afternoon on Interstate 70 in Hendricks County, sending 12 people to local hospitals.
The crash included 20 semitrailers and another 15-20 other types of vehicles, and Indiana State Police officials are saying weather was a factor. The incident happened at 2:09 p.m. on I-70 near Cotton Road.
All lanes have since been reopened.

Six patients were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital, four patients were sent to IU Health West Hospital and two patients were taken to Hendricks Regional Hospital. One patient was listed in critical condition.
INDOT media relations says there was no damage to the bridge at the crash location.
The wreckage is being removed to the I-70 westbound rest park for further investigation. Haz-Mat is on the scene cleaning up fuel and vehicle lubricants that leaked due to the crash.
