Two killed in Clark Co. accident

CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTHI) -  An accident in Clark County claimed the lives of Richard Poorman, 52, and Stephen Daugherty, 45, both from West Union.

Officials said Saturday night, Bill Crumrin a First Responder for West Union was driving an ambulance along Route 1 just outside the city.

He was transporting a patient and another Paramedic , Richard Poorman.

That's when officials said a pickup truck entering from a side street slammed into the ambulance.

Both the patient and Poorman were thrown from the vehicle. Poorman was transported to Memorial Hospital in Crawford County where he was later pronounced dead.

The patient was airlifted to another hospital. That patient's condition is unknown at this time.

Meanwhile, Stephen Daugherty who was in the pickup truck was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Champaign County. There, he was also pronounced dead.

A second person in Daugherty's pickup truck also had to be airlifted to an area hospital.

That person's condition is unknown. Illinois State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
