PARIS, Ill (WTHI) - In recognition of National Foot Health Awareness Month, Philip Holloway, DPM, will offer a free foot clinic for new diabetics on Wednesday, April 11, from 5 to 6:30 pm, in the Wound Care Center at Paris Community Hospital.
Blood glucose testing and foot screenings for neuropathy (nerve damage) will be available. The event will include education on foot care, and proper footwear and referral assistance for diabetic shoes and inserts.
More than 65,000 lower limb amputations were performed in the US in 2006 due to diabetes-related complications, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. National Foot Health Awareness Month stresses the importance of foot health and its impact on overall body health.
For more information about the April 11 foot clinic, call Leslie Brown, RN, BSN, WCC, Wound Care Center manager, at (217) 465-2606, Ext. 570. Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 4
