VERMILION CO., Ill. (WTHI) - One person in Illinois is dead after being ejected from his vehicle when it collided with a semi-tractor trailer
According to Illinois State Police, the driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound on I-74, near milepost 218, when the driver lost control, and passed through the median. The vehicle flipped onto its roof and came to a stop in the westbound lanes.
A semi-tractor trailer, driven by Eddie Bonds, 61, of Gibson City, Ill.,was unable to avoid colliding into the wrecked Jeep. Once the semi struck the Jeep, the driver in the Jeep was ejected and killed as a result of injuries sustained from the crash.
The deceased drivers name has not been released at this time.
A third vehicle, driven by Beverly Beehtold, 85, of Westville, Ill., was traveling westbound behind Bonds, and exited the roadway to avoid colliding with the semi and came to a wrest on the shoulder.
Medix Ambulance Service, Danville Fire Departments, Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, Tilton Police Department and the Illinois Department of Transportation responded to the wreck.
