EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTHI) - Edgar County will have a new sheriff next year.
The county clerk's office counted the final 15 ballots on Wednesday morning.
They were absentee and provisional ballots that came in after election day.
Once they were counted, the final results showed that Republican Ed Motley defeating the Democratic incumbent Tim Crippes by 27 votes.
Motley will not only be the first African-American Republican sheriff in the state of Illinois but also the first African-American person to hold an elected position in Edgar County.
