MARSHALL, Ill. (WTHI) - For generations, travelers going near and far have bought up postcards and sent them back to the folks at home.
While many of those postcards make their way to a waste basket, a few are kept, treasured and preserved. And more than a few of those have made their way into the collection of Eric Curry, a teacher in Marshall, Ill.
Over the past five years, Curry has collected more than 5,000 post cards, some almost a century old. For him, they are treasures worth preserving.
“I want people to save them and not throw them out … cherish them and see the value of them and their history,” Curry said.
On Thursday, Curry is showing off his collection to others in the community and hoping to inspire the same appreciation in others. Curry’s presentation takes place Thursday night at 6:30 Central Time at the Marshall Public Library.
