CHICAGO (AP) - Classes are back in session at a school on Chicago's North Side that was the first in Illinois to close because of swine flu.
Kilmer Elementary reopened Wednesday morning. It was closed for a week after a 12-year-old student fell ill.
Other schools in Illinois reopened Wednesday after swine flu closures. They include: Ridge Circle Elementary in Streamwood, Ridge Lawn Elementary in Chicago Ridge and Algonquin Middle School in Des Plaines.
U.S. health officials are no longer recommending swine flu closures. The virus has turned out to be milder than feared, and the government decided to change its advice.
Health officials say parents should still make sure to keep sick children with flu-like symptoms at home for seven days.
