CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill (WTHI) - A water main break in the city of Robinson has caused a portion of Crawford County to have dirty water.

The main broke on June 28th and since then has been repaired but the water in the county has been affected.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports many community members have reported having dirty, brown murky water.

The Robinson-Palestine Water Commission says the dirty water is clearing up in the Robinson area but has moved out to Palestine, Hutsonville, Oblong, Trimble and New Hebron.

The Water Commission says the water is safe to drink but it will ruin homeowner’s clothes. They recommend holding off on doing laundry until the water clears up which could take a few days.
