Six months after it was hoisted into place, a giant windchime in Casey, Ill. has been named the world’s largest.
Jim Bolin, the chimes’ creator, announced Friday evening that representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records had officially named the chimes as the world’s largest set.
The chimes are made up of five metal tubes and measures 55 feet from top to ground.
Bolin, who is vice president of Bolin Enterprises, said the chimes were inspired by a set of windchimes at his grandmother’s home. He said he hopes the chimes will draw visitors to the community.
“We were just trying to think of something that would energize the community and maybe bring some traffic through Casey,” Bolin said in a press release.
