PARIS, Ill. (WTHI) - Bond is reduced for a teen accused of killing his mother.
A judge approved a request Tuesday to reduce bond to $100,000 for 16-year-old Terry Payton.
Payton is accused of murder in the stabbing death of his mother, Kathie Payton.
If Payton makes bond, he will be released to the care of short-term guardians. He will also be under home confinement with electronic monitoring.
By court order, he can only leave the house for medical or legal appointments, including any doctors that are part of the legal team, to attend church, and to go to the library for a 45-minute period. He will cooperate with the short-term guardians in attending a course of homeschooling.
Payton is not allowed access to the Internet or telephones other than for homeschooling purposes and contact with the people approved by the guardian. This includes his father and necessary members of the defense team.
Payton cannot leave the state of Illinois without advance permission from the judge.
His jury trial is set for the weeks of November 28th and December 5th.
