CHICAGO (AP) —
A Chicago woman whose 90-year-old grandmother was found dead, her body covered with bed sores, skin ulcers and chemical burns caused by lying in her own urine, has been charged with elderly neglect.
The Chicago Sun-Times (http://bit.ly/X24WWX ) reports that Cook County prosecutors say Nicole Falls did not for months seek medical help for Della Cotton, despite the woman's cries of pain.
According to the paper, all Falls allegedly did was give her grandmother some Tylenol.
After the woman's death, Falls, her primary caretaker, called a funeral home in December to take her body. But Assistant State's Attorney Joell Zahr says that the funeral home refused to take the body and called 911 instead.
An autopsy revealed that "elder neglect" was one of the causes of death.
