Woman banned from Belleville West basketball games

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — The daughter of a 70-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease is crying foul over a school district's decision to ban the older woman from basketball games where her grandson plays.

The Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/W3xMp7 ) reports that Kathy Eisemann of Belleville was barred from Belleville West High School games after she swung her purse at two people who heckled her during a December game.

Her daughter, Kriss Foster, acknowledges that what her mother did was wrong but says the punishment is "heartbreaking." She says her mother, who uses a wheelchair, has had two strokes but "loves to go and show her support."

Assistant School Superintendent Brian Mentzer says it's a "difficult situation" and "unfortunate."

Eisemann hasn't been charged in the December incident. She'll be allowed to attend baseball games at the school.
