OAKLAND, Ill (WTHI) - In July, a home in Oakland, Ill exploded claiming the life of an Illinois woman and injuring her husband.

Oakland is a small town in Edgar County about 15 minutes west of Paris.

The power of the explosion blew out windows, ripped shingles off the roof, and stacked walls like sticks. The fire chief with the Brocton Fire Department says the explosion was ruled as a propane explosion. The source of ignition is still unknown.

Officials with the Brocton Fire Department say the insurance company would not pay to dismantle the house to learn more about the source of ignition.
