DIXON, Ill. (AP) — The teachers strike in the northern Illinois city of Dixon continues into this week.

The Telegraph in Dixon reports ( http://bit.ly/13ByOve ) that the Dixon Education Association and the Dixon School Board stopped talks late Sunday without an agreement. Classes are canceled Monday and another negotiation session is set for Monday night. The 168 teachers went on strike Thursday.

Union president Sandi Sodergren-Baar says financial issues and classroom conditions will be discussed Monday night. She says agreements were reached on length of the school day and school year. Teachers have requested 3.75 percent annual pay increase and salary incentives for experience and education.

School Superintendent Michael Juenger says the board offered a 3-year contract equal to the cost of living.
