DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Northern Illinois University is interviewing candidates to be the DeKalb school's next president.
The Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/YcwX89) that ten candidates will be interviewed Thursday and Friday in closed-door meetings at a hotel in Rosemont. The school has a 28-member committee that will meet with the candidates and ask them questions. The ten hopefuls were selected from a pool of 48.
Officials say they hope to narrow the field to four candidates on Friday. They'll give that list of the NIU Board of Trustees. The board will review that list and make a final decision.
NIU President John Peters announced in October that he would retire on June 30. The school hopes to have a new president by July 1.
