BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — There's a new baby goat at the Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington.

The Pantagraph reports (http://bit.ly/XAexEI) the zoo announced Thursday that a rare San Clemente goat named Breeze gave birth to a male kid. Officials say there are fewer than 500 of the goats in the world. The animals are a critically endangered heritage breed. They are from San Clemente Island off the California coast.

The zoo has five adult goats, four female goats and one male goat. They are between 1 and 3 years old. The new baby goat is on exhibit at the zoo.

Miller Park Zoo is the only accredited facility in Illinois to exhibit the breed.
