PEKIN, Ill. (AP) — Police in Pekin say four people were injured at an explosion at a refrigerants bottling plant that blew off a corner of the building.

The Pekin Daily Times reports that (http://tinyurl.com/cdckxc2 ) the explosion happened Monday at Enviro-Safe Refrigerants, and sent bricks and debris onto nearby railroad tracks.

Police spokesman Don Jolly says the injured were taken to hospitals. He says at least two had chemical burns and the others might have inhaled fumes.

Authorities say there was no need to evacuate homes near the plant.

Neighbor John Gordon described the explosion as "a big kaboom."
