Marion man killed in Carbondale shooting

CARBONALE, Ill. (AP) — Carbondale police are investigating a weekend shooting that killed a 20-year-old former Marion High School football standout.

Jackson County Coroner Thomas Kupferer says Toren Stanley died Saturday night at a Carbondale hospital. The coroner says Stanley was shot earlier that day. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Police Chief Jody O'Guinn tells KFVS-TV that the shooting happened at an intersection. Stanley graduated in 2011 from Marion High School, where he played football and ran track.
