CHICAGO (AP) — A DuPage County judge has ordered a Cook County colleague recently found not guilty by reason of insanity on a misdemeanor battery charge to keep up her psychiatric treatment.

Judge Cynthia Brim faced a stay in an Illinois psychiatric hospital had she been found guilty of shoving a Cook County sheriff's deputy.

On Friday, Judge Liam Brennan said he agreed with an Illinois Department of Human Services' evaluation that found Brim is "a low risk for violence."

He ordered Brim, who is diagnosed with "schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type," to continue attending her psychiatrist and social worker appointments, and to take any medication prescribed. Brennan also ordered Brim to submit to three random drug tests a year.

Brim, who has been suspended indefinitely with pay, wouldn't comment after Brennan's action.
