CHICAGO (AP) — Newly released court papers reveal more details about how former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. made illegal campaign expenditures, including the purchase of two mounted elk heads for his Washington office.

The Chicago Democrat pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Washington to misuse of campaign funds.

The prosecution's filings allege that an unidentified Jackson staffer tried to arrange the sale of the elk heads after an FBI investigation was under way. An FBI employee contacted the staffer and claimed to be an interior designer interested in buying the heads. They agreed on a price of $5,300.

Prosecutors allege Jackson's wife, Sandi Jackson, knew the heads had been bought with campaign funds. They say she told the staffer to have the undercover FBI employee wire the money to her husband's personal account.
