CHICAGO (AP) — Road conditions are expected to suffer across northern Illinois as a winter storm is forecast to bring up to 10 inches of snow to the region.
The Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Tollway say they have nearly 800 snow plows ready ahead of Tuesday's storm. Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider says motorists should be prepared too. She says they should wear their seat belts, slow down and not crowd the snow plows.
The Illinois Tollway has a Snow Operations Center and officials say it will be activated as soon as necessary. The Tollway also has canceled any temporary lane closures.
