URBANA, Ill. (AP) — Illinois football officials have named a new director of player personnel to help coordinate recruiting efforts.
Marcus Berry was named to the post on Monday. He formerly held the same position at North Carolina for four seasons.
Berry is an Ohio native who played football at West Virginia. He worked as an account manager for the NBA's Washington Bullets and coached at a Maryland high school. He's completed two NFL player personnel and scouting internships, including with the Green Bay Packers.
Illinois Coach Tim Beckman says Berry has great experience evaluating and analyzing players. He says Berry has a keen eye for talent.
