High school scholars named to all-state team

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Twenty-six Illinois students have been named to the All-State Academic Team sponsored by Caterpillar.

The Illinois High School Association announced the winners of the top academic honor on Monday. Team members will be honored at a banquet in Bloomington on April 15.

The winners include students from Wheaton, Bloomington, Chicago, Des Plaines, Normal, Alton and Vernon Hills.

Schools were invited to nominate one female and one male student by the February deadline. Nominees needed to have at least a 3.5 grade point average, participated in at least two other activities or sports sponsored by IHSA and demonstrated leadership.
