Former Elmhurst pastor charged with sex assault

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — DuPage County law enforcement authorities say a former Elmhurst pastor has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl he met at a church-sponsored youth group.

State's Attorney Robert Berlin says that a judge on Tuesday set bond at $300,000 for 41-year-old Darin Evans of Dover, Ohio.

Evans previously served as associated pastor At the West Suburban Community Church in Elmhurst. Authorities say that Evans allegedly sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions beginning in 2004 through 2011. The alleged victim came forward in in February 2013 when she no longer was a minor.

Berlin says Evans turned himself in to the Elmhurst Police Department earlier this week. He's charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse.
