JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — A current attorney for Drew Peterson told a judge that Peterson's former lead attorney ran the legal team like a "dictatorship" during Peterson's recent murder trial.
Steve Greenberg's comment came during final arguments at a Wednesday hearing on whether Peterson deserves a retrial. The request is based on allegations former lead attorney Joel Brodsky bungled the trial when Peterson was convicted of murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Greenberg and Brodsky have engaged in a bitter public feud that has spilled into the hearing.
Brodsky groaned and shook his head in an overflow courtroom as Greenberg compared him to a dictator. Brodsky told reporters during a break that Greenberg's description was "a bald-faced lie" and "fiction."
