WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — Prosecutors say a Carol Stream woman has been charged with stealing almost $11,000 from a Wheaton high school booster club.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said Monday that 57-year-old Dorothy "Dee" Horky was charged with stealing the money from the Wheaton North Booster Club, where she served as president from May 2006 through May 2011.

Prosecutors say Horky had a booster club American Express card in her name while president, but allegedly told club officials that she had destroyed the card after her term expired.

Prosecutors contend that Horky instead took cash advances against that same card from July through November 2012.

That's when club officials noticed inconsistencies in their books and alerted Wheaton police.

An arrest warrant was issued March 7 and Horky turned herself in on Monday.
