CHICAGO (AP) — A 25-year-old Chicago man has been arrested on charges he killed a mother and her daughter then set the building they were in on fire.
Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Saturday Thadeus Ridley is charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and aggravated arson.
McCarthy says police responded to a disturbance call at Ridley's apartment on Friday. He says Ridley gave officers "specific information" about the death of 43-year-old Cherie Adams and her 24-year-old daughter, Curtria Duncan.
The women's bodies were discovered in the bathroom of a burning first-floor apartment on Chicago's South Side on Wednesday.
Police say they had been stabbed to death. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
