BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A Belleville attorney soon will become a southwestern Illinois judge.
The Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/12AbtKO) reports that Julie Gomric received the majority of the 12 votes cast by the elected 20th Judicial Circuit judges to fill the last remaining associate judgeship opening. The votes were certified Thursday.
Gomric won the position in a runoff after she previously tied attorney Patricia Kievlan.
The two other associate judges chosen during this year's round of selections in the circuit include St. Clair County Assistant State's Attorney Joseph Christ and Belleville attorney Chris Kolker.
Gomric must be sworn in before she can assume the office.
