EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Two people from southwestern Illinois' Granite City are accused of playing roles in a drug-related death.
Madison County prosecutors on Monday charged 23-year-old David Deforest Jr. and 41-year-old Debra Nelson with drug-induced homicide and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with plans to deliver it.
Authorities allege that Nelson sold liquid methadone to Deforest, who then provided the drug to 19-year-old Dylan Hartman. Hartman's body was found in December by a relative in the victim's Granite City home.
Nelson and Deforest do not have listed home telephone numbers, and online court records don't show whether they have attorneys.
