TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A former Vigo County Deputy Prosecutor pleaded guilty to a drinking and driving charge.

William Earls pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated. This marked his second OWI arrest. He was facing a felony charge. However, since Earls pleaded guilty the charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

He was sentenced to one year suspended informal probation and his license suspended.

No word whether Earls will continue to practice law.

The Supreme Court suspended William Earls from practicing law in 2008. Then, Earls reportedly drank six beers during jury deliberations in a murder trial while he was a deputy prosecutor.
