Candidates debate over health care

Joe Donnelly vs. Richard Mourdock

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The past week, the local senate race has dominated the American political scene, after a controversial statement in a debate.

However, what's shaping up to be one of Indiana closest races has really been defined by key issues that both candidates are on opposite sides.

So, to give you a better view of which candidates might line up more with your concerns, we take a look at how Democrat Congressman Joe Donnelly and Republican Treasurer Richard Mourdock stand on the Affordable Care Act.

It's easily the most hotly debated issue this year.

From it's passage into law to the supreme court hearings, both parties made the final battle for the health care law campaign 2012.

Donnelly served in the house of representatives and voted for the Affordable Care Act.

One of the cornerstones of Richard Mourdock's platform has been a complete repeal of the law.

However, he does have a plan for health care in America.

"I think if you say ‘repeal it’ and leave the message that our healthcare is fine, I think you're totally wrong,” started Mourdock. “We do have some problems. We need to deal with health care costs on the health care delivery side. And we also have to change some federal health care regulations to allow more private market competition, free market competition on the insurance side, so we bring the cost of insurance down."

So who's right and who's wrong?

Well that's your decision and one you'll make on Tuesday, November 6.
