Eldred not running for reelection

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Vigo County Superior Court Division 1 Judge Michael Eldred announced Monday morning, he will not run for reelection in 2010.

Eldred has presided over that court for 30 years. He said the job is rewarding, but it's time for a change.

"It's one decision at a time and the first decision was whether or not to seek reelection. In this next year, I will decide what opportunities there are out there," Eldred said.

Eldred said retirement is one option, but he will entertain any opportunity that comes his way.

A replacement would be picked for Eldred in the 2010 election. The primary will take place in May.
