Thousands check out ISU's library

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A university's library celebrates reading with a yearly tradition.

Thursday was the 9th Annual Library Extravaganza at the Cunningham Memorial Library at Indiana State University. The event showcases many of the activities and services that the library has to offer.

With more than 1.5 million print items and 50,000 electronic items, the library may seem a bit intimidating to some students.

"It's a fun time for people to come in, learn about it, and do it in a fun way, and see that the library is not that formal scary place that they might fear when they first get to campus," Alberta Comer, Dean ISU Cunningham Memorial Library said.

Officials said nearly 5,000 students passed through the extravaganza in 2010. This year they expect that number to be even larger.
