Local Catholic school to close after 13 years

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - After 13 years, the Board of Governors at John Paul II Catholic High School announced they will be closing the school at the end of the school year.

According to a release from officials at John Paul II, they are very proud of the work they've accomplished in their short lifespan.  The release also stated they have achieved dedication and excellence from volunteers, teachers, administration and other paid staff.

The school saw over 40 of their graduates receive their high school diplomas over the years, and having moved on to some of the best colleges and universities in the country: Rose-Hulman, Purdue, Indiana University, and some to the Catholic colleges of Dayton, Xavier, Ave Maria and Franciscan University.

The released mentioned that officials at the school would like to thank all that supported them over the years with their “time, talent and treasure”. They also thank the parishioners and staff of St. Patrick Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Church and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis for their support.

The release did not state a specific reason for the schools closing.
