TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) -
A Terre Haute woman was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to a neglect charge in the case of a child severely injured while in her care.

Isea Jones was first arrested in February, after a one-year-old suffered skull fractures, bruising and other injuries while in Jones’s care.

Jones told authorities she left the child unattended in a high chair. She told police she then heard a loud noise from the room where the child was, then returned to the room to find the child lying on the floor.

In July, Jones pleaded guilty to a felony charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

On Friday, a Vigo County judge approved that plea agreement, sentencing Jones to an eight year sentence, with four years to be spent in prison and four to be served in formal probation. Jones also received credit for 150 days already spent in jail.
