TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Police have arrested a woman for obstructing justice after a shooting at a Terre Haute hotel.
It all began Monday night, when a man walked into the Royal Inn on 3rd Street, shot a clerk in the chest , then fled on foot.
Speaking in court Wednesday, investigators said they used dogs to track the shooter for several blocks before the track ended.
Later at the same location, police found registration and insurance information for a van belonging to Wendy Nicoson, 31.
Police said when they went to meet with Nicoson, they found a ball cap in her van matching the one worn by the shooter Monday night.
Police said Nicoson initially reported that she had driven the van that night to visit the grave of a relative, but later changed her story.
They said Nicoson eventually told investigators that she had leant her van to an un-named man Monday night.
Nicoson reportedly told police that the man had returned the van late Monday evening and asked to stay the night because he had shot someone.
Nicoson faces a felony charge of obstruction of justice and is being held on $25,000 bond.
The identity of the shooter has not been released, and a search for the shooter was still underway Wednesday afternoon.
